There's one that has come close to the house a few times this spring. It got into the trash. We ran into each other in the woods a while ago; he ran one direction, and I took off in the other. It isn't much of a nuisance, really.
The coyote pack is a bigger worry because we have a horse and some smaller animals like chickens and pigs. Not mention two young girls (whereas there are no documented wolf attacks on humans in North America, coyotes are opportunists who have gone after kids here in Maine). My oldest daughter came inside yesterday to tell me there was a coyote in the pasture, but by the time I got my shoes on and my Winchester down and loaded, it was long gone. Oh well, I'm a lousy shot anyway and probably would have wasted the bullet.
Almost forgot...Steve Allan is always after me to post a disclaimer to the effect that not everyone in Maine lives out in the sticks and keeps livestock. There.
